ANDREW BERG
Andrew Berg is a saxophonist, arranger, and YouTuber, based in Southern California. His music education channel hopes to entertain and encourage young and old musicians alike in their quest to learn more about music. The channel covers everything from music theory to musical philosophical satire to practical practice habits.
Andrew studied under Bill Cunliffe and Francisco Torres while attending the Cal State Fullerton jazz program and performing with various groups. He has worked as a saxophonist, arranger, and band leader with artists like the Fullerton Jazz Big Band, ABQ: Archives, and The Robert Preciado Big Band. His group, The Andrew Berg Quartet, released their debut album, A Close Goodbye, in 2014.
As an educator, Andrew teaches young saxophonists in basic music theory, technique, and jazz improvisation. His book, Scale Studies for Saxophone, was written to aid his students with exercises in Major keys and Chromatics, while exposing them to almost 700 distinct scales, including common modes, pentatonics, and “exotic” scales from different countries and cultures.
